Ron Powlus, Sr. Memorial Athletic C

In April 2014, the Northwest Area community lost a valuable member of our family.  Ron Powlus, Sr. spent his entire 37 year career in education in the Northwest Area School District.  Over these years, Ron had a positive impact on multiple generations, and affected tens of thousands of students – serving as a teacher, coach, principal, mentor, and friend to all.  His focus was equally divided between the academic and athletic areas.
     In appreciation of his career, the Ron Powlus, Sr. Memorial Athletic Complex Committee has formed to provide a permanent, lasting tribute to remember Ron.  Plans are underway to name ALL the athletic facilities under one name – Ron Powlus Sr. Memorial Athletic Complex.  Names for all individual venues (such as the Eddie Gayeski Memorial Gymnasium and Lewis & Miller Memorial Stadium) will remain the same.
     Plans include a formal, gated, entry arch to be located near the entry to the gymnasium and softball fields – visible to all.  This arch will also feature signage naming the complex after Mr. Powlus. 
     Mr. Powlus ALWAYS spoke about the “great kids” at Northwest.  Any contribution you can make will help show our appreciation for this “GREAT MAN”.
