Ron & Tisha Zirbes Medical Fund

As most of you probably know one of the founders of the Reguladores LEMC Ron & Tisha Zirbes were hit by a drunk driver back on 1/12/2014 on their motorcycle. They were both hospitalized and were in critical condition. Since then Ron has recovered after many surgeries and with a piece of his leg missing. Tisha on the other hand has not had such an easy road. She has to date had 8 surgeries on her leg and still needs more. She has not been able to work since then. During this long 3 year process, they have never asked for help nor have we done any events or fundraisers for them besides that one collection at the 2014 BTW to build a ramp at their house. With the medical bills piling, Ron working extra jobs day and night to get them to Houston and back for all these surgeries, travel, hotels and just to make ends meet, our dear friends have now been hit with yet another terrible obstacle.
Tisha has been diagnosed with breast cancer. What started as ductal carcinoma that could be treated with a lumpectomy, breast reduction, and radiation turned into much more. Due to Tisha’s family history of breast and ovarian cancer, genetic testing was done. The results were not good showing BRCA1 mutation meaning that percentage of breast cancer and ovarian cancer is almost 3 times more likely. Therefore, the doctors are now recommending bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction. With this mutation, there is a probability of additional surgeries after that.
For now they have had to put her leg surgeries on hold to deal with the cancer first. They will be traveling to MD Anderson on Monday January 23rd to prepare for surgery on Thursday the 26th.
Ron and Tisha are not people to ask for anything and have kept this very quiet, but this is what our club does is helps people. I have asked their permission to get this out to everyone so that we can come together and help them. Tisha has been so strong thru all of this and is always so happy and smiling. She is one of the strongest women I know. But we all know what repeated years of surgery can do to a person, especially when you are trying to make ends meet.
I am asking all Chapters, members, family, friends to come together and see what we can do for them. Put together a ride, sell BBQ, make a donation, whatever you can do to support one of the Founders of this great organization we are all so proud to be members of. I am also going to be putting together a GoFundMe account and hope that you will share it with your members, family and friends also. Most importantly we need prayers for this family!
