Ronald Matthew Cooper Born 25/03/1955 also known as Ronnie Boy and Rocket, is the 3rd Son out of Six Boys of Ronald Cooper Snr and Barbara Assan Cooper. Ronnie during his football career supported his family as a Carpenter Builder his Son Matthew went on to play with Sturt in SA.
Ronnie started his playing career with the Darwin Buffs through the Colts, he represented the Territory in 1968 School Boys competition in Adelaide and In 1974 NTFL Rep side with Maurice Rioli in Brisbane under Tony Shaw.
Ronnie played in the Centre Forward Pocket Forward Flank and was and was unbeatable as a Rover for the Mighty Buffs he was around the age of 15 or 16 he played in the A Grade for the Buffs.
He won many medals including 2 Abala he won various Buffs B&F both in the Colts and A Grade 1972/73 Club B&F
During his playing days in the Colts Ronnie won the Goal kicking award for his talent however he was limited to the goal at the A Grade level been beaten in this field by his Brother Robert and Mate Norm Hagan
After Cyclone Tracy Ronnie went south to Lockard NSW with Normie Hagan he played a half the season then returned to Darwin.
Ronnie played under Aldo Rosetto, Nungga Ah Mat and Geoff Bates where feature in many of the Winning and losing GF for the Mighty Buffs
The monies raised will go towards his Funeral and transport cost of bringing him home to Darwin the cost also is to return him Wiligi Outstation to be buried on Country.
