Ronnie Hugh Creel

Hi, my name is Shelby (Brionna) and I am one of Ronnie’s grandchildren. We called him Poppy.

Poppy was admitted into the hospital Friday, October 27, 2023 due to shoulder pain he’d had for quite some time. To make a long story short. He had heart failure that snuck up on him. Poppy needed to have bypass, open heart surgery. They originally planned to have the surgery on Tuesday, October 31st. He unfortunately was not strong enough for the surgery. They wanted to wait a few days for him to get stronger.

Wednesday, November 1st, 2023, Poppy went into cardiac arrest. Once they got him okay from that, he was having trouble breathing. They decided to intubate and sedate him.

From that point on, they did everything they could do to get him stronger to be transferred to UAB and have the surgery.

Unfortunately, things did not go as we hoped.

On Tuesday, November 7, 2023 Mr. Ronnie Hugh Creel passed away.
