11/26/22    Update://: On the night of November 24th 2022 Ronnie Villegas passed away in his sleep at home. He stayed awake just long enough to watch the Dallas Cowboys win the Thanksgiving Day game. Funeral Services will be announced soon. We have fortunately, through the generous donations from our friends, family and LEO supporters, been able to pay for the funeral that our father deserves. Any further donations will be used to support our family in the difficult coming months.

Hey y’all, if you’re reading this, then you probably know my father, Ronnie Villegas. He has been battling illness after illness for several years and unfortunately, his fight is coming to an end. Before sickness became his day to day fight, he was known for being a Marine, a corporal with the Lubbock County Sheriffs Office and a loving, devoted father and husband. In July of 2022, he went in for a catheter procedure to help his lungs after COVID and one complication led to another, ultimately resulting in two instances of cardiac arrest and being ventilated for a little over a month. Our mother, Jennifer, is now having to piece together a funeral to fit within the budget of the very small insurance plan that he was afforded as an end stage kidney patient. Seeing her having to make concessions regarding his funeral is horrible. The VA unfortunately doesn’t offer much as far as assistance in burying a veteran like we thought they did. Our wish is that she didn’t have to worry about the financial aspect of this and could just hold Dads hand and love on him through this final page in his story. In that same vein she hasn’t been able to be there for her children who are struggling with the loss of their father. My siblings, Monica and Michael, are trying to swallow the bitter pill that their father won’t watch them graduate. Monica from Nursing School in December and Michael from high school in May. They need our mom to help them navigate those feelings. This is all to say that his children are asking for ours and our parents friends and family to lend a hand in helping ease the financial stress of paying for this funeral. We would like to spend what little time we have left to hold his hand doing just that. Thank you in advance for your prayers for our family and for your kind donation.
