Ronny and Devi Naidoo - Pacific Palisades Wildfire Relief

Donation protected
With a heavy heart, his daughter, Samantha and I (David) are completely devastated to announce that we now know that Ronny has lost his home and business on Marquez Ave to the Palisades Fire. On Jan 8th we confirmed that the business was gone and today, Jan 10th, that his home had burned.

Ronny’s livelihood was in the cleaners, along with the many notaries he did daily. And most of his net worth was in his condo. (See the first photo below)

My father-in-law, Ronny Naidoo and his wife Devi have been a constant on Marquez Avenue in the Pacific Palisades for over 40 years.

Ronny ran Marquez Market on the corner before buying the convenience store a few doors down and renaming it Ronny’s Market & Liquor. Years later he sold the store and then bought the cleaners two doors down and renamed it Ronny’s Parklane Cleaners. (See video of the devastation below)

Ronny is so well known on the westside of the city that he is belovingly known as the mayor or ambassador of west Pacific Palisades. You, or your kids might have played the “fish for worms” game with him in the liquor store, or had your dog run into the cleaners to get a “treat.”

Ronny and Devi rushed to evacuate because of the car blockade and took nothing with them but the clothes on their backs. Every important and meaningful item was left behind.

I have never seen someone work so hard for so long in my life. Yet he has always given to anyone who asked. He is the humblest person I know, and I’m honored to be married to his only child. For decades this man worked every day of the year but Christmas, which also happened to be his birthday. He’s lost everything.

He wouldn’t want the help of others, but I was insistent that there is a community that loves him, and my wife and I are asking for your help. We’d like to see him be able to rebuild and someday return to the city and the people that mean so much to him. We also want to give him the means to care for himself and Devi for the next couple of difficult years.

The story and updates will continue…
