Hi there! My name is Teagan and I have made this Fundraiser on behalf of my friend, Ronza Sameer, and her expected baby.

I reside in the Hul'qumi'num First Nations territory ("Salt Spring Island, BC")

I met Ronza through fundraising for families needing to raise money to evacuate Gaza. For months we have stayed in contact, and she has kept me up to date on the matters her family is experiencing. With the borders of Rafah closed under occupation, her family remains in Gaza. The stressful experience of these circumstances have taken a toll on Ronza and her pregnancy.

About Ronza and this Fundraiser:

Ronza is an engineer, living with her husband in Brazil, under refugee status. They have spent years trying to find a place to find permanent residency outside of Palestine. Her parents and siblings are still in Gaza, surviving the genocide. The amount of stress Ronza has endured due to the fact she could lose her parents in terrifying circumstances has wreaked havoc on her body, endangering the health of her pregnancy. Medical professionals advised her to stop working and rest, as she has endured complications due to the stress. While her husband is still working, his single salary is not sustainable.

Their future:

Ronza and her husband, along with their expected child, have the possibility of taking residency in Canada, through the Canadian Program assisting Palestinians seeking refuge.

Its a long and costly process. They will need to leave Brazil to travel to Egypt, where they can renew their passports and submit their paperwork. They have an uncle living here in Canada who will be able to provide them with assistance upon arriving. From that point, they can apply for Visas and begin working in Canada.
