Rootin' for Ryley
Donation protected
As some of you may or may not be aware, one of our family members (Shawn’s cousin) and her wife, Jessica Folz and Danika Bergeron got some very shattering news. We are starting this Go Fund Me in hopes to raise money to help relieve some financial stress from Ryley’s moms so they can focus on being there and supporting him through his journey. Please read their story below.
Ryley Travis Bergeron-Folz was born by c-section on May 5th, 2023 a couple days before his scheduled c-section. He just couldn’t wait to be earthside and meet his wonderful mamas. Early in the pregnancy upon u/s it was noted that Ryley had slightly enlarged kidneys that had returned to normal size on a further u/s. Prior to being discharged home, the medical staff at HSN performed an u/s to make sure his kidneys remained normal. After quite some time patiently waiting for those results, the doctors discovered a mass on Ryley’s bladder. Ryley was then rushed to Sick Kids hospital for further investigation. At only a couple days old he had already endured countless blood tests, multiple stent insertions into his urethra and was put under general anesthesia for a biopsy of the mass.
After impatiently waiting for the biopsy results, Danika and Jessica got the news no parent ever wants to receive. It is in fact CANCER (Rhabdomyosarcoma). Ryley is now 10 days old and has successfully had his picc line inserted. Little Ryley is embarking on a long journey of chemotherapy and surgery to remove the mass and potentially removing his entire bladder. He will be staying at Sick Kids for the start of his chemotherapy and if everything goes well he will hopefully be able to receive some chemotherapy in Sudbury but nothing is certain at this point.
We would like to sincerly thank everyone in advance for their donation, thoughts and prayers that will help Ryley, Danika and Jessica on this journey to recovery. We will keep everyone updated as news and progress arises.
