R.O.O.T.S. Outdoor School
"There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children. One of these is roots, the other, wings." - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
The seed for R.O.O.T.S. Rogue Opt Outside Together School was planted in 2019 when two moms (one a teacher at a local public charter Waldorf School) brought their hearts and minds together to envision a new world for their own children -- starting with their education.
Following the devastating effects of COVID-19, particularly for children in the public school system, another mother working as a teacher in the public education system joined the team to help take the vision to the next level. That’s when R.O.O.T.S. outdoor school, a full-time K-6 tuition-based program, sprouted!
Today, the founders and teachers of R.O.O.T.S. need your help in supporting the children in our rural Southern Oregon community. Our team believes that outdoor education should be accessible to all children, regardless of race, background, culture or socio-economic status, striving to bridge the “opportunity gap”. At the same time, the costs of running a full-time program are not minimal. Tuition costs currently help fund teacher salaries, classroom materials, needed land or structure improvements and maintenance, operating costs like insurance, and even transportation.
This GoFundMe has been designed in hopes of helping R.O.O.T.S to bloom by garnering attention and support from wonderful people like YOU: local individuals, businesses, and organizations who believe in and align with our mission,
“To inspire joy and wonder by engaging children in interactive, connection-based learning through holistic outdoor education.”
By generating community support from generous tax-deductible donations like yours, R.O.O.T.S. will be able to supply quality materials for classrooms and offer scholarships and financial assistance to the families most in need. Additionally, community support in the form of monetary donations supports R.O.O.T.S. in reaching for larger grants to help support infrastructure, transportation, field days and additional programming by showing a foundation of strong community support for the program.
The children of the Grants Pass, Oregon community need your help! For our community, facing the crises of both local wildfires and the global pandemic, this past year has been one of the most difficult in history.
At R.O.O.T.S. Rogue Opt Outside Together School, children will experience what they need now more than ever: a safe educational space that is designed to increase connection with other children, trusted adults, and nature.
You can help make this innovative model a reality!
Thank you for supporting us in our mission to reconnect children to the joy and wonder of learning through holistic outdoor education!
