STORY:
I’m taking my group Rory Ingham’s Trombone Assembly into the studio to record our debut album!
This project whole-heartedly champions the Trombone. It features five of the UK’s leading trombonists: Rory Ingham, Mark Nightingale, Trevor Mires, Daniel Higham and Andy Wood. The music is newly written (mostly by Mark Nightingale and Trevor Mires) for this new ensemble which includes 4 tenor trombones and 1 bass trombone, alongside a stellar rhythm section of piano/fender Rhodes, double bass/electric bass and drums (Ross Stanley, Sam Quintana, Ian Thomas). Between them they’ve performed and recorded with Frank Sinatra, Sting, Jamiroquai, London Symphony Orchestra, Incognito, Randy Brecker, Steely Dan, Ray Brown, Quincy Jones, Lennie Neihaus, Kyle Monogue, Mike Gibbs, BBC Big Band, Strictly Come Dancing Orchestra, Sir Tom Jones, Wynton Marsalis and Stevie Wonder to name a few!
The group explores the trombone without limits; we play across the whole genre of jazz, as well as bringing new techniques with the use of electronics to the forefront. Our music knows no boundaries and truly features all aspects of the trombone; this album promises to be a far-reaching success amongst avid trombonists as well as other musicians and the general public - there is something for everyone!
No longer will the trombone be on the sidelines…we are bringing it well and truly to the forefront! Our debut concert in April 2022 was a successful headline show during the International Trombone Week, at the infamous Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in Soho, London. Since then we have been invited back to Ronnie’s a further two times (headlining 3 times in just over a year), selling out to appreciative and responsive crowds each time. We also had the privilege of playing a sold-out show at the acclaimed British Trombone Festival 2022. As a result of these performances, myself and other members of the group have had requests from trombone enthusiasts for trombone lessons, and requests from promoters to work together to put on concerts spreading the good word of the trombone, amongst countless positive feedback from audience members!
Trombone Assembly fans everywhere are eagerly awaiting this much anticipated debut album featuring new and as-yet unrecorded works. However, this album simply will not be possible without financial backing. Therefore, I am writing to ask if you might consider sponsoring this wonderful project. We welcome donations of any amount (see below for rewards!).
Your generous contribution will be spent on the making of the new album, which comes to a grand total of £14,700. This figure includes:
Studio hire, musicians fees, engineer fees, piano tuning, mixing, mastering, CD duplication, album artwork, design, PR, photography and videography.
I appreciate you taking the time to digest this particular fundraiser and I hope you are able to consider being a part of the project, making it the success it so deserves!
Best wishes,
Rory
