Rosana's Sarcoma Cancer Fight

Donation protected
My name is Rosana Nunez, I am 26 years old and my journey with Cancer began when I was 24. These last couple years have been extremely hard for me. As many of my friends and family know my mother Maritza was diagnosed with Leukemia on January 18, 2017. Less than a month later I suffered a bad car accident with my siblings in February. A little over a month after on March 23, 2017 I received the news that no one wants to hear, CANCER. I was referred to Dana Farber Cancer Institute immediately. I began to see my oncologist and treatment team, while doing so I was terminated from my job despite being out on medical notice. I knew I had to be strong for my mother who had already begun chemotherapy treatments at Rhode Island Hospital. They finally put a name to my diagnosis, Myxoid Lipo Sarcoma. I had a 14 cm malignant tumor growing on my left thigh. Since the tumor was so large in size I had to undergo 25 treatments of radiation and have surgery to remove the tumor. Surgery was on July 5, where it took me almost a year to recover fully. As if I already didn’t have enough going on, sadly in my recovery process on December 8th 2017 I received notice that my father passed away in a fatal car crash. This only made things worse for me. I was going through so much battling my fight with cancer, supporting my mom in her own battle and still being enrolled in school. Despite the challenges God gave my mother the strength to recover slowly. I pushed myself to finish school in May 2018 becoming an Alumni from Fisher College Boston and gave my mother the best mother’s day gift possible; becoming the first college graduate of my family after all I had been through.  The struggle doesn’t end there, unfortunately in August this year I went for my yearly check up and was informed that my cancer had returned and it is more aggressive that it has spread to my chest area. This time I cannot do local radiation treatments, I must undergo chemotherapy treatments. Finishing chemotherapy and after a short break, I will have surgery on my chest to once again remove the tumor growing inside. I am currently not employed anymore since I am undergoing treatments and my mother continues to be unemployed because she is still recovering from her bone marrow transplant. I am asking all my friends, family and anyone with a caring heart to help me and my mother get through this process together. Any kind of donation as little or big will be a huge help to us with a variety of expenses. I am asking for the help I did not ask before, however this time things are more complicated for my family and I and we can use all the help we can get. We truly have no way of repaying anyone back but I have faith that the Lord will Bless you all tremendously for doing the right thing and helping someone in need.  My family and I thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. I will remain strong as much as possible and continue to pray for a cure.  You can help by donating on this link to raise funds, or by purchasing a $25 ticket to my fundraiser that will be held December 9, 2018. Thank you all for the care, love and support. You are all my battery to continue fighting another day!

Love,

Rosana
