GOAL
An endowed tuition assistance fund at The Park School. We need to raise $100,000 over the next five years.
Much of this goal has been pledged already thanks to a handful of large contributions, but about $20,000 needs to come from individual donors.
ABOUT ROSEMARY KNOWER
Rosemary Knower was a stage, television, and film performer in the Baltimore area for over 40 years, and a drama and English teacher at The Park School.
During the years she taught at Park, Rosemary Knower was a force for innovation and creativity in the theater. Taking on direction and production of plays and musicals well outside the typical realm of a high school performing arts program, she inspired a generation of Park students to challenge themselves and to embrace and love the stage. It is in celebration and memory of this exuberant experimentation, as well as her lifelong dedication to and passion for the actor’s craft, that this scholarship fund has been established to help nurture that same passion in the young women who attend Park today.
ABOUT THE ROSEMARY KNOWER TUITION ASSISTANCE FUND
The Rosemary Knower Memorial Tuition Assistance Fund is provided to young women with an identified passion for Theatrical Arts. It is an annual designation available to rising sophomores and above, to supplement the student's Park School need-based tuition assistance award. Qualified candidates will have participated in multiple years of theatrical engagement, to include any combination of acting, technical design or execution, costuming, makeup, stage management, or playwriting. A minimum of one full year’s engagement in these areas at Park School is required.
ABOUT THE PARK SCHOOL
Founded in 1912, Park School is a non-sectarian, independent, coeducational day school for children in pre-kindergarten through grade twelve. Daniel J. Paradis was appointed the tenth Head of School in July 2008. The school’s core values, rooted in the progressive educational philosophy of John Dewey, sustain an unshakable belief in children’s capacity to enjoy learning, to act rationally, and to grow when inspired by highly qualified, caring teachers. A fundamental commitment to inclusiveness and equity guides all programs and activities.
