Rosie runs her first half for Qhobosheane Primary

I’ve somehow been lucky enough to be one of ten from my company chosen to go to South Africa on 3rd May to volunteer at Qhobosheane Primary School in Soweto.

Along with this amazing opportunity, I’m on a mission to raise £1800, all of which will go straight to the school. As part of the Flight Centre Foundation, as a company, we’ve been working alongside this school for over 5 years and through previous donations have been able to achieve some amazing transformations, including most recently building a kitchen to provide the children with maybe their only hot meal of the day.

The school is very run down with broken windows and few resources so we’re hoping to raise enough money to build a library within the school but as well as this, any funds help us provide sanitary products to the girls, paint to freshen and brighten up classrooms and there's always need for books and stationary. 

Given I’ve never run more than 6 miles, training for a half marathon in under 8 weeks is a huge challenge for me and I would really appreciate any donations, however big or small, to help me reach my goal. Not only is the run itself going to be a huge challenge but the training regime/substantial less fun and drinking until it’s over is going to be a real test too (including my birthday just 2 days before the race). It’s taking place on 19th April at Victoria Park in case anyone is in the area and fancies a laugh.

I’ll also be putting on small events running up to May but I will get in touch about them as and when.

The photos are from a friend who had the chance to go out and visit the school last year but on my return, I’m sure I’ll have hundreds more to share.
