Search Efforts For Ross Mickel's Family

Thank you for your overwhelming amount of support and generous donations. We embarked on this effort to bring Ross's family home after learning the NTSB search efforts had stopped. Our goal was to say that we did everything that we could to continue the search for Lauren, Remy and Luca. While the outcome of this effort did not locate our loved ones, we are grateful for Ben Griner and his team at Coastal Sensing and Survey. This team was unbelievably creative and dedicated to finishing what they started to complete a thorough search using the best technology and capabilities, while making it feasible to us.

We are forever grateful for all of you and feel a small amount of closure after completing this search effort.

OUR STORY:

On September 4th, 2022, Ross Mickel, Lauren Hilty, Remy Mickel, and their unborn son Luca Mickel were tragically killed in a seaplane crash off Whidbey Island in Washington state. They left behind an incredible 12 year-old daughter, their loving families, and a gaping hole in the lives of everyone who knew them. It is with profound sadness and love that we have decided to reach out in this capacity.

We are heartbroken that the NTSB finished its recovery work without finding Lauren, Remy, and Luca, and are determined to continue the search for those still missing. There is a gap in support for this tragic situation, so Ross’s close friends have established this page to fund a private search and recovery mission. We are working with experts in the field, using the best available underwater and mapping technology to conduct this operation.

The goal of this effort is to bring Ross's family home. It will also bring a small amount of closure to all those impacted in knowing that we have utilized the best technology currently available to do so. We understand that the passage of time, the changing tide conditions, and the size of the search area all mean the probability of recovery may be low, but we still feel this is what we need to do to bring Ross's family home.
