The HeartBeat Trust is a charitable organisation (CHY 15938) dedicated to improving care and services for patients with, or at-risk, of heart failure.
Heart Failure affects approximately 100,000 people in Ireland with an estimated health care cost approaching 0.75 billion euro per year. It significantly impacts patient quality of life more than most cancers and shortens life expectancy.
The HeartBeat Trust supports research at St Vincent’s University Healthcare Group Heart Failure Unit and University College Dublin (UCD), with established close links with the HSE to ensure that proven novel strategies are adopted into national service delivery plans.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the western world.
The risk of heart disease increases during and after menopause. In 2020, heart disease was responsible for 1 in 4 female deaths, with heart failure representing one of the major threats
Heart failure is under-recognised in women, waiting twice as long as men to be diagnosed.
Women need to prevent heart disease earlier in their lives. Improving physical activity is beneficial in women
All proceeds raised will go directly to the HeartBeat Trust to support patient care and research into heart failure.
