Rowan's Army

Hi! I'm Jessica Satterfield. Several years ago, we lost our oldest son, Zion, very suddenly and tragically. People gave to our GoFundMe during that time and it allowed my husband to take off of work to be with our family, to process and grieve. It was invaluable to us during the darkest days of our lives.

I wish I didn't have to share this update with our friends, but unfortunately, our family is walking through the unimaginable once again. We've never been more certain of our miracle-working God and just like in seasons past, He's been unbelievably faithful, we are fully confident we'll see His faithfulness again. We know this story ends with us seeing His goodness in the land of the living. However, navigating the practical ways this has turned my sister's family's lives completely upside down is the reason for sharing this update.

Several weeks ago my sister, Jenna, noticed one of her 6-year-old twins, Rowan, wasn't acting himself. We all had a terrible virus over Christmas and just thought at first he was having trouble recovering until he started exhibiting signs of jaundice. She immediately took him to the ER and after a long week in the hospital of lots of tests and labs, they decided to do a liver biopsy. The biopsy came back with every parent's worst fear... cancer.

B-Cell ALL Leukemia.

In one phone call, their lives completely changed overnight. Rowan was immediately admitted again to the hospital and started chemo treatments within two days of receiving the diagnosis. Doctors are certain the cancer is treatable and curable, however, it will be a long journey over the next three years, killing the cancer, and keeping him in remission. These next several months, specifically until October, will be the most gruesome of the journey, with chemo every week, weeks in and out of the hospital, and protecting his compromised immune system.

Rowan is one of five children, and as you can imagine, it has completely shattered his siblings' world. Jenna and James have been switching staying at the hospital with Rowan so the other can be at home with the other kids during this difficult time. Because of that, James, a high school teacher, has had to take FMLA to be able to be at home with his family.

They are having many unexpected expenses come up during this time, as they're just trying to survive. We're hoping this GoFundMe will help relieve that pressure in some way.

We've seen God heal bodies too many times and watched Him bring beauty from devastating rubble in our lives to believe anything other than the confidence we'll see Him do it again. Rowan's inheritance is healing and wholeness. We've never been more thankful for the purchase Jesus made on the cross for Rowan to be HEALED and CANCER FREE!

We'll keep you updated as he faces this journey with courage and boldness in true Robug fashion!
