Rowan’s Leg Lengthening!

The time has finally come for Rowan’s big surgery and we’d love your prayers and support! 
   As an infant Rowan received a diagnosis called PFFD,  an undeveloped hip & knee joint, and shorter bones in her left leg. She has had several major surgeries to prepare her joints and leg for this lengthening procedure, and our brave girl is ready to go! Bone lengthening takes time and patient endurance and we’ll be on this journey of growing “lefty” (her short leg) for about four months.  Her surgery is scheduled for April 14th and we’ll be busy with daily physical therapy as we slowly stretch that healing bone 1mm per day.  Regular PT is necessary to manage pain, as we are also stretching muscles, nerves and soft tissue along with each day of bone growth. 
   Her surgeon, Dr. Paley (inventor and leading practitioner of this lengthening technique)  and his team are located in West Palm Beach, Florida, and we will relocate our family there as she receives treatment and multiple daily sessions of PT. We will also be trained in therapeutic exercise to help Rowan with pain management, and to maintain strength and range of motion. Justin will be able to come for the beginning and end of this trip, however I, Judith, will be the primary caregiver while we’re away. 
   Medical and physical therapy sessions will be our primary expenses as well as some relocation costs.  Although we have been planning and saving for years, we know there will be considerable expenses that our insurance and savings will not cover. We would love your partnership on this huge hurdle in Rowan’s story.  We also cherish your thoughts, prayers, and encouragement as we take on this adventure together. 
   We believe that God is revealing His plans and blessing Rowan as she walks through each step of her life story.  While it has been difficult to watch our daughter struggle through surgeries, therapy and the discomfort of unequal legs,  it is powerful to see how God uses every trial to form her character and deepen her trust in Him. Rowan’s grace, poise and courage have been a beacon of hope and our drive to press on even though this is a daunting endeavor. She has set a course for healing with her positive attitude and joyful spirit. She is such a blessing!
