Roy Archer!

Greetings family, friends and colleagues of Roy Archer,

I am writing on behalf of my uncle and godfather, Roy Archer. He presently lives in the Philippines with his wife, Rechiel, and their three children, Helena Kate, age 12, Princess Gia, age 9, and Averie Zenith, age 3.

In early September 2023, their world was suddenly turned upside-down when Roy started experiencing health complications. He went to the local doctors to check on his condition, and it was discovered he had a mass in his bladder with the high probability of cancer. He was advised to get treatment as soon as possible – the earlier the better when dealing with this disease. All the doctors he consulted agreed that his best chance for effective care was in the United States.

Roy traveled to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, from Sept. 9th to Sept 28th, where his friend and old karate teammate, Ronnie DePinho, is the former President and one of the foremost cancer scientist in the world. Ronnie set Roy up with the best cancer surgeons and oncologists and helped guide him through this process.
After a series of tests, consultations and a medical intervention, doctors have found that the cancer did not spread outside the muscle but due to the nature of the cancer, high grade, they want to attack it vigorously. Roy's surgeon, Dr. Navai Neema, and his oncologist, Dr. Campbell, were successful in removing all of the tumor, but his medical team wants to make sure that the muscle was not affected and that the cancer will not reoccur.

Two treatments have been suggested, surgery or radiation and chemotherapy. All the options entail Roy remaining in Houston, Texas for four to six months.

As you can imagine, Roy’s wife and daughters are yearning to be by his side during this physical and emotional ordeal, which would be a great comfort to Roy. We are delighted to be able to tell you that a housing situation has been arranged for the whole family and we are working on getting Rechiel an emergency visa so that she and the girls can join him in Texas before his treatment begins on October 30, 2023.

Roy has Medicare insurance but will not cover all of the cost, out-of-pocket expenses will be considerable. The total medical care and aftercare is estimated to be $120,000.

We, the family, are asking for your financial support to help our beloved uncle, brother, husband and father.

Our goal is $50,000 to cover the gap between Medicare and total treatment costs, as well as travel costs and expenses that will be incurred during his stay.

Most importantly, Roy is optimistic, strong and surrounded by the love and support of many. We are convinced that this surgery and the accompanying medical care will eradicate the cancer completely, and that he will be able to enjoy many more years of active life.

We thank you in advance for any amount you would feel comfortable donating.

Sincerely,
Ghyslaine Archer
