Help fight Pancreatic Cancer & get Hip Surgery

Hi, my name is Molly and I am trying to raise funds to help my Nana and Papa, Roy & Suzanne McElwee, be able to afford the medical care that they desperately need to continue fighting my Papa's stage 3 Pancreatic Cancer and help my Nana be able to get the Hip Surgery that will help her be able to move and walk around again without needing help and being in severe pain.

My Papa is fighting Stage 3, unresectable, locally advanced Pancreatic Cancer that he was diagnosed with in December of 2022. Since his diagnosis he has done all the recommended treatments of chemo and chemoradiation, and is currently doing more chemo treatments for 14 days straight every 21 days. Until recently, he has had minimal side effects from all of the harsh treatments and he was handling all of it very well and has even been cooking and cleaning to help my Nana since her pain has become so severe. In the last few months he has been dealing with worsening side effects from the treatments. He has worsening Neuropathy pains as well as severe fatigue. With all of the doctors visits, medications, and everyday living expenses, bills are beginning to pile up and are adding more stress and worry to an already extremely stressful and worrisome situation. With everything going on, my Papa has continued to trust God and stay positive as much as he possibly can and he refuses to give up. We are extremely grateful and thankful to still have him with us 1 year and 3 months after his diagnosis.

My Nana has struggled with severe hip pain for the last few years and only recently found out that she has Osteoarthritis of the Hip and has bone on bone rubbing in her hip. The pain from this is so severe that she can barely move or even stand up on her own. She has to use an electric scooter to be able to go anywhere or do anything. The doctor said she needs a full hip surgery and multiple weeks of Physical Therapy following the surgery. She has also dealt with severe back pain for as long as I can remember due to having Herniated Discs. She gets injections into her back every few months to help her with the pain caused by the Herniated discs but those injections do not help her hip pains at all.

All of the doctors visits, testing, scans, blood work, medications, and everything else that goes into them getting the medical care they need is expensive even with insurance. They are on a fixed income and money is very tight ever since my Papa found out he had Cancer.

My Nana truly is an angel, she is the most loving and caring woman I have ever known and she has always put others needs before her own, and my Papa is a kind, loving, hardworking, and strong man and they both love their family so much. I wouldn't be the person I am today if it wasn't for them and trying to get them help with their medical care cost is this least I can do after everything they have done for me my entire life, as well as for so many others. I will do whatever I can to lessen the amount of things they need to stress or worry about, and help them be able to fully focus on Papa fighting the Pancreatic Cancer and Nana getting Hip Surgery and the Physical Therapy that follows.
