Hi, my name is Debra, and I'm helping fundraise for my friend, Roy Johnston.
As many of you have heard by now, Roy has been diagnosed with two benign tumors in his facial nerves, and two tumors in his vertebrae. In his humor, he came up with names for all of them. Thelma and Louise are the two in the vertebrae, and Crabbe and Goyle are the brain tumors.
While none of them are cancerous, Crabbe and Goyle are causing facial paralysis and immense pain. The doctors have recommended a course of radiation. His local expert referred him to MD Anderson in Houston, which is out-of-network, so his insurance won’t cover all of the expenses. In addition, he will have a lot of out-of-pocket expenses, like lodging in Houston during the treatment.
After consulting with his insurance company, he currently expects his out-of-pocket expenses to run around $40,000.
I know a lot of you love Roy, and want to help him. We are seeking to raise $35,000 to help offset some of these expenses. Regardless of whether you can help financially, he has asked for the following prayers:
1- continuing recovery from all the anxiety and depression from the last week.
2- continuing recovery from all the contrast, dyes, chemicals, drugs, and radionucleotides my body has ingested
3- That Thelma & Louise (spinal hemangiomas) do not grow nor interfere with my life. Ever.
4- That Crabbe and Goyle respond to radiation and prayers to not only stop growing, but shrink. That I be free of pain and any substantial facial paralysis.
5- that my treatment team is always aware, present and make safe choices regarding my care.
6- That my recovery from all interventions goes well, my pain is managed well and I remain free of infection and complications. That claustrophobia doesn't impede my healing.
7- that somehow my journey can be a source of strength for others in need.
Thank you for your prayers, and any additional support you are able to provide him.
In Christ,
Debra
