Roy's BBQ Food Trailer Stolen on Christmas Night
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Roy Lotz, a proud Austinite and owner of Lotz of BBQ, a deaf-owned business serving delicious BBQ in Austin since 2015 — I’m asking for your help because my food trailer was stolen on Christmas night.
A bit about me: I graduated from Texas School for the Deaf in 2006 and after getting a bachelor's degree from Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. in 2011, I returned to Austin with a passion for BBQ.
After years of hard work, saving money, and balancing my full time job at the Texas School for the Deaf while running my BBQ business on weekends, I fulfilled a dream in September by purchasing a food trailer for $40,000. I also invested over $15,000 in essential equipment, including a refrigerator, warmer cabinets, knives, generator, cookware, and more. It took years of sacrifice and determination, but I’m proud to say that Lotz of BBQ is now thriving, working closely with local businesses and events.
However, on Christmas night, my food trailer was stolen from the Ghostline parking lot. The trailer, which I’m still paying for, is not just my livelihood — it’s the heart of my business and my dream. I am devastated. While I try to support my family, including my one-year-old son, I have to deal with this.
I’m reaching out to the community for help. I’ve worked hard to build this business, and any support would go a long way. Your donation will help me get back on my feet, recover from this loss, and continue doing what I love—cooking BBQ and serving my amazing community.
Thank you for your support during this incredibly challenging time. Every little bit helps!
