Sheffield Half Marathon for UNICEF Gaza appeal

Hi there, I am Emily! I’m from Sheffield and I am running the Sheffield Half Marathon this March to raise money for the UNICEF Gaza appeal which helps children affected from violence, malnutrition, illness, trauma and displacement as a result of the crisis in Palestine.

It would mean a lot if you could donate what you can to this important cause! The conflict is still one of the biggest humanitarian conflicts happening in the world right now, even after a ceasefire has been agreed airstrikes are continuing and people and children are increasingly paying the price for this. As other news stories hit the headlines this conflict rages on, and the people of Palestine caught in this conflict are still in need support. After over a year of intense hostilities throughout Gaza and the wider State of Palestine, 1.5 million children need urgent support.

60% of those killed in Gaza are women and children.

We continue to work with our partners and Palestinian health authorities to reach people with life-saving interventions, including vaccines. The second round of the polio vaccination campaign concluded with more than 556,000 vaccinated children, and over 448,000 receiving Vitamin A.

So far we have supported Palestinian children and families in the following ways:

Maintained the provision of water services for around 2 million people including 800,000 children throughout Gaza City.

Distributed over 35,000 supplies for clean water, sanitation and good hygiene practices including hygiene kits, sanitary pads and soap. This benefited 250,000 children.

Screened 63,000 children for acute malnutrition, resulting in over 4,000 children being identified and treated with lifesaving nutrition.

Continued to provide psycho-social support for displaced children and caregivers in areas such as Gaza, North Gaza, Khan Younis and Rafah.UNICEF Gaza appeal page
