Hi, my name is Emily and I am fundraising for my sister Megan.
Megan lived through the worst day of her life Friday when the love of her life, Michael passed away unexpectedly in his sleep at age 30. Megan and Mike met in undergrad at Eastern Connecticut State University, where it was love at first site. Upon graduation, Megan became a teacher at Lyme/ Old Lyme and Mike moved to LaGrange, Georgia to be the Graduate Assistant for the mens basketball team while he received his masters degree in Philanthropy and Development. They spent their time working hard and making long distance work. Then they got their first apartment together and things were looking up. Mike accepted a position as Worcester State, for approximately 2 weeks, before being recruited to be the Assistant Basketball Coach at SUNY Oneonta. Mike packed everything up again and moved to New York, where he spent 2 seasons there. Mike and Megan got engaged January 2020 at the peak on the SUNY Oneonta campus. Then Covid hit and everything changed. Megan quit her lifelong dream of being a teacher and moved to New York to be with her love. Mike was no longer coaching, he needed to make living. He occupied his time by starting his podcast, "That D3 guy" and Freilich's Property Services. In July of 2021, Megan and Mike got married surrounded by their family and friends. Mike encouraged Meg to leave teaching and start Nursing School Full time at Hartwick College. Mike hustled, made contacts and did everything he could to support Megan which including leaving SUNY Oneonta to be the Assistant Mens Basketball coach at Hartwick.
Megan is currently a full time nursing student who needs our help. She lost the love of her life, her soul mate and best friend. Mike was Megans financial support while she was able to focus on school. She wants to continue school, she wants to finish what her and Mike set out to do together. What Megan is going through right now is unimaginable and unexplainable. The support and love and prayers are greatly appreciated. Mike was larger than life, he was the best husband. He pushed Megan to be the best version of herself every single day. They might not have had a lot, but they had each other. Megan needs our help to get on her feet, to continue school and to be the best version of herself and to finish out the plans they had set out to do together.
Thank you in advance for you loving kindness.
