Help Taylor fight FIP
Donation protected
The situation
Mauhaus Cat Cafe & Lounge resident cat Taylor has been diagnosed with dry FIP. As FIP typically only affects cats ages 2 and under we were very shocked at this diagnosis as Taylor has just turned 4. FIP is caused by an uncommon virus mutation that affects less than 3% of cats. There is a “wet” form and a “dry” form. The wet form is much more severe. Luckily Taylor has the dry form, but it is still a very serious disease.
Taylor has given his love to so many people and we feel like it’s our turn to do everything we can for him. He deserves the best we have to give.
The solution
There is a treatment we can try, so we are not giving up hope. He will begin taking Polyprenyl Immunostimulant this week. Clinical studies have shown this drug can be effective in combating the effects of FIP, specifically the dry form. At this point, Taylor’s symptoms are still very mild, so we hope that this will be the case.
Taylor will be retiring earlier than planned and will go home to live with owners Ben & Dana so he can receive his treatments and be closely monitored. Per vet recommendation, his sister Lorelai will come home with him to keep him company and ease the transition.
Why we need help
The cafe is currently under a tremendous financial burden due to the global pandemic. We need help raising money for the treatment to help Taylor have the absolute best chance at beating this.
The medication Taylor will receive costs around $700 a month. With regular vet checkups his care total comes to nearly $1000 a month. This would have been tough for Mauhaus under normal circumstances, but with our lounge being closed Mauhaus is in a cash flow crunch.
We’ve already received donations from some of you to help us during the pandemic, and we are so appreciative and it’s very hard for us to make this secondary ask. We also know that many of you are also struggling financially right now, so please only give what you are able to without putting yourself in jeopardy.
