A visit to see my dying grandmother has turned into a major turning point in my young life.
I'm 2 months away from graduating my senior year in high school and 1 month away from finally moving out of my parents house, when at an unreasonable time I was flown out to Russia a day after I had found out my grandmother's cancer had progressed to it's 4th stage.
Initially, I was told I'd be here for 10 days and be back before my high school could withdraw me from the school, but the day before my flight back to the U.S., I found out that I wasn't going to be able to go back and that I would now be living in Grozny, Russia and going to school here too. I was so close to finally graduating, moving out, and going on to college and now it's all come to a screeching halt. My parents are trying to keep me here and aren't showing any signs of sympathy. They simply want me to adapt to this new life, when I was already getting my own life started. My life is in America and I was born and raised there. I have a suitcase of clothing and no other belongings with me, I didn't even get to say goodbye to my friends. The only money I have is 200 dollars and a plane ticket back is going to cost upwards of about $7-800, but not only that I have to get back to Moscow in order to fly back to Portland, Oregon. I've tried asking for help from my extended family here, but they've taken my parents side, so I'm alone in this and have to turn to you guys. Anything helps honestly and all the left over money is going to go towards paying for any expenses I have while trying to finish school and find work. I have a brother and sister here with me as well, but they are underage and have to stay here under my parents rule. My hope is that I'll be able to bring them back too, because I know there is no future for us here.
