Help My Mom Start Over After Devastating Hurricane Flooding

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Nikki Wolfe. I'm raising money to help my mother. Here is her story:

84 years old. No one should have to start over at the age of 84. That's the nightmare we are currently navigating. It's too much. It's just not fair.

On Friday, September 27th- Hurricane Helene hit the mountains and absolutely devastated the small town of Damascus, Virginia. My mom had to be rescued from her home. Told to grab what she could, the essentials, and they needed to get out immediately. The water rose fast, crazy fast. The waters swept away all the homes in the park. Hers managed to stay upright, but the home is going to be a total loss. They were able to finally get in and salvage some things, but the home is full of mud, sludge and water damage. Her car was submerged completely underwater. The most important thing though is she is safe. And now we start the process to navigate this and figure it all out.

I don't know how insurance, disaster relief and all of this is going to play out. Hurricane coverage is not something anyone in the mountains would ever dream of needing. At the time I've written this, FEMA hasn't added VA or TN to the list for homeowner help. What I do know is that I cannot do this alone right now. My mom needs help. I need your help. My mom lives on a very limited income. She struggles. And now on top of that, she's not going to be able to work for some time.

For anyone who knows me, my family and my mom- we've been through a lot. I'm not here to tell a sob story or make anyone feel sorry for us. I'm just here to share what our current situation is and ask if you are able to- please help my mom.

My mom has spent her entire life giving to others. Giving to the church. Giving to those in need. If she had $5 to her name, she was probably donating $4 of it to someone else to help. As a single mom, she raised me by working multiple jobs. At one time, she had a full time job and three part time ones. All so we could survive and get by. I wouldn't be here today without her. And even with working that much and that hard, she was always there at every one of my games. She was my number one cheerleader. Still is and always will be. Now it's my turn to be her number one cheerleader.

My mom is heartbroken. She's scared. My heart is shattered for her. No one should have to start life over again, especially at the age of 84, but we're going to do it and we're going to do it the best we can. I've cried for 3 days because the only thing that echoes in my head is my mom crying while saying, "I don't have a home."

If you took the time to read these words, thank you. If you feel moved to donate, thank you. Literally anything helps. If you cannot donate, please keep my mom (as well as the town of Damascus and all the areas surrounding that have been impacted by this awful tragedy) in your prayers. Thank you.
