Storm's emergency surgery

Hi, I'm Jason and Storm is my 6.5-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier. Storm is a wonderfully loving dog, who has never seen a face she didn't want to cover in kisses. She has been by my side for the last 6 years and is essentially my third child. Landon and Aliza are her best friends and she means everything to them too. Unexpectedly, Storm woke up sluggish Tuesday morning and had some signs of problems noticed by the marks/stains on her bed. She wasn't due for her cycle and I knew that any sort of blood or puss from her vaginal area was a bad bad sign. Off to the vet we go. After a physical, x-rays, blood work, and a few other tests, Storm was diagnosed with Pyometra. Pyometra is an infection that causes severe inflammation of the Uterus. It is a very serious condition for dogs and can be life-threatening very quickly. Luckily Storm's case is an open Pyometra, but she also was showing signs of the infection spreading. The Vet thought it was best to have her in surgery as soon as possible to prevent the infection from spreading to her blood. The decision to have her go into surgery as soon as possible was an easy decision to make, as her life was possibly in the balance. Storm successfully had her surgery Tuesday night and is beginning her path to recovery. She is a strong girl and will rebound, I'm sure of it. With all the testing and the life-saving medical attention she required. It has left me buried under roughly 4000.00 in medical bills. All donations will directly be applied to the cost of her procedure. She sends endless kisses to you all.
*UPDATED* on Tuesday August 15th, Storm took a turn for the worse. she began to have spotting and other fluids coming from her lady bits. this shouldn't have been possible with the surgery removing all of her uteri, uterine horns and the rest of her reproductive tract. we were at the vet Wednesday, when an emergency came in with pyometra. We totally understood that meant coming back again on Thursday. After spending time with the vet, and more testing on Stormy. the Vet determined that she was fine to go home and that in all likelihood was passing some of the remnants from her healing. this was great news, but also added to the mounting bills( roughly 5.2K in the hole now between the vet bills, special diet, and medications). It couldve been much more costly had Storm needed more medications. Really hoping this is the end of our constant visits to the vet.
We are truly greatful for all the love, kindness, and sympathy shown to our Stormy girl.
