Help Jason continue physical therapy to walk again and to help with the cost of an FES device called Bioness!!!
Please see new update below in regards to the EFS device we are hope to raise some monetary help with payment of this device.
Jason Gregory was born and raised here in Gallatin TN. Everyone knows him because he has never met a stranger and would truly give the shirt off his back to help anyone out! He is a very active person and loves to be outside and be involved with any type of sport. He has had a rough couple year and now he needs a little help.
It’s with a heavy heart that we are setting up a go fund me account. Last year alone he had shoulder, bicep repair and ankle surgery.
On June 30th of this year he came home from work like any other day and overnight he started to get a heavy feeling in his legs the very next day he fell twice and that was when we called the ambulance, and it’s definitely a good thing we did. His potassium dropped to 1.8 which should have stopped his heart. During the process of everyone trying to figure out what was going on they found a bulging disc in his thoracic region, that was “a ticking time bomb” according to the surgeon and it was pushing pretty heavily on his spinal cord. Mind you he never had any back pain or anything that indicated this was happening.
Long story short they stabilized his potassium and then he had surgery that lasted almost 9 hours on July 2nd, on July 4th @ around noon they released him from the hospital the nurse took the drain out and basically sent him on his way. He literally walked himself out of the hospital with no hospital staff accompanying us, they told us he did not need transport to leave.
We came straight home he sat in his recliner and increasingly got worse overnight with chills and low-grade temp and then his legs started to feel “weird” again. So back to ER we went they transferred him back to skyline to have an MRI because Sumner did not have one on duty.
They transferred him to a room at skyline and basically left him there for about 18 hours without an MRI just in a room. The following morning rehab came in and transferred him to a chair in the room and left. No doctor or PA came into the room until at least 1pm. Meanwhile I was pacing the room and walking back and forth to tell the nurse on duty he was getting worse his right leg went completely numb and then the left leg. Nothing was done!! She did not even document anything and that came from another nurse. Finally, a PA from Neurosurgery came in and pretty much brushed everything off, he actually told us while we were talking he had to take a phone call. Nothing done again... overnight his paralysis started moving up and he call that nurse and god bless her because she jumped on it and immediately and called the on-call neurosurgeon and I was told them they both had no idea why nothing was not the day before but he was rushed to emergency MRI and straight back into surgery and I was literally told he would probably have about a 10-15% chance of recovery.
They Found a hematoma that was compressing his nerves we were told he has an incomplete spinal cord injury at T5 level C.
God has blessed him, and he has far passed the 10-15% but he needs a lot more Physical Therapy and occupational Therapy.
Our insurance will only pay for 20 visits he will need a lot more than that, and I’m told unfortunately BCBS very rarely approves anything more.
Another hit his employer is giving him until October 1 to return to work, they do not offer short/long term disability. He had to use all his sick/personal and vacation time and after that was depleted, he went unpaid. So, we are now a one income household with enormous medical bills, and everything it takes to run a household and pay your bills. We just keep praying and hoping with positive thoughts.
We are praying that we can gather and start fundraising to gather enough money to keep him in Physical therapy for at least another 20 visits and another 10 occupational therapy visits, he will definitely need more but this is what we are praying for. Each visit is $135. He does his physical therapy and occupational therapy at a Neuro rehabilitation in Hendersonville called Rehabilitation without Walls and they are truly wonderful and have done wonders with him in this short time he has been going there.
We definitely realize that times are tough but maybe just maybe can gather enough to keep him in therapy to learn to walk again!!
Please follow Jason on his journey to recovery.
His YouTube channel will updated as much as possible.

UPDATE : Jason’s walking is coming a little every day. And that’s all we want is just a little progress everyday. His employer did in fact terminate him on September 27th , they didn’t even wait until the 1st.
We actually are going to be increasing the monetary goal that we originally set. We have been truly blessed by all the donations to help with his physical therapy that he needs that insurance will not cover.
We found and talked to rep with a company called Bioness. This is an FES device that is wrapped around the leg and sends functional electrical stimulation to the muscles to help with movement, stability and so forth. The videos on this device are truly amazing. Of course it’s very difficult to get insurance to pay to for these. According to everyone from doctors to physical therapists Jason is prime candidate for this device. I will post the videos and device website for everyone to look at. This device is $5500 alone.
