Ruben’s Next Adventure: Honouring a Life of Giving, Learning, and Love

It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of Ruben (Dean) Wills on 30 October, 2024. Ruben was a loving father, soulmate, son, and friend, whose unexpected loss has left a profound void in the lives of all who knew him.

Ruben’s life was defined by his passion for learning, growth, and community. He dedicated himself to improving the world through playful, shared experiences, and a deep commitment to helping others. In his own words “ I live with purpose, intent, and meaning. I strive to fold conscious intentionality into every day.” His belief in the power of simple, everyday actions - whether it was picking up litter, volunteering, or just taking the time to listen - was at the heart of everything he did.

A Final Journey for Ruben

To honour Ruben’s legacy, his family is raising funds to cover the costs of his final journey. Ruben is flying over to the Eastern States to bookend his life the way he lived - giving to others to improve the world however he could. He will continue to “play” his part; advancing medical science at the University of Technology in Sydney.

The goal is to raise funds to cover:

• Travel and logistical expenses for Ruben’s final journey.

• Ongoing support for his family, in particular his young son Milo, as they navigate an unexpected and uncertain future.

Continuing Ruben’s Legacy

Ruben’s impact on the world was vast and immeasurable, from the people he helped to the causes he championed. While his loss leaves a gaping hole, his vision for a more connected, creative and compassionate world remains. Ruben inspired everyone around him to give what they could - whether through small acts of kindness, community service, or simply showing up for others.

Ruben’s family have been surrounded by overwhelming love and support, which is a reflection of Ruben’s own spirit. Although he is no longer physically here, Ruben’s passion for community and lifelong learning lives on through those he inspired.

While he did not want a formal funeral, there will be the opportunity to celebrate Ruben’s life in time.
