Ruben's Cleft Lift Procedure

Hello everyone, my name is Claudia Bocanegra Gonzalez, and I am creating this fundraiser for my son Ruben Gonzalez. Ruben has struggled with a Pilonidal cyst since 2021 and has had two unsuccessful surgeries as well as visits to a wound center. Unfortunately, he has an open wound that needs daily dressings to prevent infection.

He needs a third surgery, therefore we have decided to go out of state to North Carolina at Carolina Pilonidal Center with George Wadie, MD. We are required to pay for medical expenses as his insurance only covers treatment in Texas. Dr. Wadie has a high success rate and is one of a few pilonidal specialists who perform the cleft lift procedure in the country, which is the best treatment for this disease. He is scheduled for surgery on March 3, 2023.

As his mother, all I want for him is to enjoy his teenage years, yet this disease has affected Ruben’s daily life by restricting him from doing many things. He lost out on much of his high school experience and can't do simple things such as sit for lengthy periods of time because he can't tolerate it. This has taken a toll on him, and we are eager to put this chapter of his life behind him. We appreciate you taking the time to read his story and thank you for any possible donations.
