Love Takes Root Orphanage in Haiti
Donation protected
Hello GoFundMe Family,
I am excited to share with you the news that I have been selected to serve on a global health internship in Haiti through the Denver School of Nursing. I have been working towards this goal since I started nursing school last April, and it continues to be a passion of mine. In order to become eligible for this internship, I had to show competency in basic nursing skills and have experience in working with underserved and homeless communities in Denver.
I will be one of five students to join the efforts of the non-profit organization called Love Takes Root. We will be partnering with Barb Wilkerson, pediatric nurse practitioner and her husband Dr. Rick Wilkerson, orthopedic surgeon. Together, they funded the orphanage Love Takes Root following the devastating earthquake in Haiti in 2010. Please check out their website: Love Takes Root
We will be providing clinical care to the orphanage and the surrounding community of JacMel. We will also be partnering with the local Haitian College of Nursing in the effort to teach the community preventative health care practices. One of our missions is to ensure sustainability in everything we do. We want to enable and empower the people of Haiti to thrive independently long after we are gone.
I am so grateful for this opportunity to use my training on a global scale and would be honored if you would partner with me to raise the necessary funds to support the work of Love Takes Root.
The money raised will cover the flights to Haiti as well as provide necessary funds to donate medical supplies, equipment, and program support for the Love Takes Root orphanage in 2018.
I would really appreciate your contributions by the 1st of June of 2017.
Thank you for your thoughts, prayers and donations!
Love -Ruby
