Ruby's wheels to freedom!

Hi, I am Laura, mum to Ruby, who is a cheeky 13 year old young lady with Rett syndrome.

Ruby loves the outdoors and our new home in Pembrokeshire, Wales & likes to be out & about as much as possible. Her current wheelchair however is difficult to navigate on beaches & woodland & been in a few sticky spots trying to free her out of a rut or two! The beautiful area we live in Ruby needs a chair that can cope with very uneven ground!

Unfortunately the type and specific requirements Ruby has for her wheels (post spinal surgery) means we have to privately fund her wheels - the issue for us is the quote has come in at an eye watering 16K as we have to have adaptions for Ruby's Suction machine and a custom made specialist footplate as her feet don't fit the standard (in true Ruby style!)and this is for a super dooper powered chair!

We are following a few funding options but we know we will have a shortfall in potential funding options so we are hoping our friends and followers in Ruby's Journey may like to contribute to her next big 'step' into her world around her. Fundraising for your child is always difficult and not something we relish but hope the love and support will help us reach our goal for Ruby. 16K is a lot of money and any amount towards this will make such a difference!

Ruby has test driven the wheelchair a few times so we are sure this is the right "fit" for her needs and this chair with give us the flexibility to either 'drive' her OR Ruby can take the controls and drive herself (to be practised!!) 

Ruby is very excited at the prospect of being able to be on the beach and have the true freedom with her body to be truly supported in the way we need it to be.
