Carol's Medical Bills

Hi everyone!  I am sending this with the hope of helping a dear friend of mine, Carol Cox. We have known each other for about 16 years, meeting in the pharmacy world. She has done so much to help her community and church, but unfortunately, she is now in need of help herself. In 2009, Carol underwent a routine colonoscopy that didn't end up being routine.  Durng the procedure,, the colon was perforated and this has caused numerous ongoing medical issues that have become quite costly.  She has had three hospitalizations because of severe weightloss, malnutrition, anemia, prolapsed bowel, pancreatitis, and kidney failure resulting in short-term dialysis.  Because of the massive weightloss (she was down to 62 pounds!!) a feeding tube was placed in the abdomen and has to do feedings at home for 10 hours a day.  The weakness from the lack of nutrition caused her to have two falls resulting in a broken femur and knocking out 4 teeth and cracking 2 others.  She needs to get several implants to replace the lost and broken teeth as it is almost impossible for her to eat solid food - chewing is almost impossible.  Carol has also had a major change in her vision and is undergoing testing to repair her vision loss/change.  


The physical therapy that Carol has had to undergo to help rebuild her strength has been quite costly also and had to discontinue the treatments.  She now has to use a walker to get around and will probably have to continue using this for some time.  She has not been able to work for many months and is no longer able to do any type of longterm work.  She is not able to stand for any length of time due to the pain she gets from the prolapsed bowel and the fractured hip.  When the femur was crushed, Carol had to have emergency surgery and had a 12" rod placed in the left leg.  She has had 3 injections into the back and hip to try and alleviate her pain to no avail.


The bills from all of this have become insurmountable and she has no sustainable income to pay them.  I am hoping those of you who are able and willing to help out to please do so.  Her need for your help is great.  I am thanking you in advance for your help and kindness.
