Rudy Vega - Funeral

My nephew, Rudy Vega was the victim of a road rage incident on March 4, 2021 in Tucson Arizona. Rudy was picked up by a friend to go to the store, he said “I’ll be right back” but he didn’t make it back. He was a passenger, sitting in the back seat when the gun shots rang out.  He was hit with one of many bullets aimed at the vehicle he was in.  Rudy was one of three occupants, yet he was the only one hit. His friend rushed him to the hospital and he was eventually taken into surgery during the night. The surgery did not go well and he flatlined on the operating table. Rudy spent the night in ICU and we were hopeful of a positive outcome. The doctors finally gave us hope at 1 pm and then 1 hour later they informed us that he had passed on.  

Rudy was a young man, just 1 month shy of his 28th birthday.  Rudy was the type of person that made you happy with his boyish smirk. He always greeted everyone with pleasure and authentic happiness. Rudy was not conceited and remained an extremely humble human being. As one tia (aunt) has said “Rudy was a simple man and lived a simple life”.  Rudy never demonstrated to be a greedy or selfish person, and was content with what he had. 

Rudy leaves behind his mom, grandmother, sister, uncle (more like his brother) and so many other family members and friends to plan for a funeral that was unexpected.  Rudy was the victim of a senseless murder.  Rudy was honestly in the wrong place and at the wrong time. This tragic and horrendous departure from those who love Rudy is indescribable. Rudy leaves a huge emptiness in so many hearts. A great soul and a wonderful human being has been taken far too soon.
