I am a Rufus Rochelle fan just like many of you!

This GoFundMe campaign was started to help Rufus get the things he so badly needs since his return to the community/society.  The money we are requesting will be specifically used for Rufus alone to get the necessary items/payments. (i.e. help to find him housing, purchase clothing, transportation, groceries along with a better cell phone for him.  None of the funds will be used for anything that could be deemed as non-essential items and or given to any other person, corporation, or non-profit. It's always hard to ask for money, but after the many articles, podcasts, radio interviews people have been asking how they can help Rufus. "We" as his friends appreciate any and all support that you can bestow on him and we THANK YOU!

For those that don’t know about Rufus here is a little information behind this very caring man.

Rufus was released by the Bureau of Prisons on April 24, 2020, after serving nearly 32 years for so-called "ghost drugs." In other words, the authorities never got a single grain of drugs from Rufus, There were no wiretaps, no undercover buys, nor was there any type of surveillance on him.  Rufus refused to plead guilty and to lie about others as part of his plea deal and subsequently he was given a severe charge of having 24 kilos of crack.  He was indicted on 50 grams or more within that range and the Federal Judge in Gainesville instructed the jury that they could only find him guilty within that range. The jury entered a verdict of guilty on 50 grams and 24 kilos of crack, which he was sentenced for two months later in October 1988 for.  Also, note that the jury was not allowed to be present during the sentencing phase. Many felt had the jury been present they would have clearly contested the number of drugs Rufus was sentenced with.   When one is sentenced on crack cocaine charges the punishment of one gram of crack is 100 times more severe than powder cocaine. This is how unjustly the laws are against people of color especially when those in authority charge them under the crack laws. Sadly, upon entering prison it was determined about 90 or 92 percent of those in prison for crack were black."  During his incarceration, his goal was to reach as many young men and women as to keep them from ending up in prison and or the grave.  Currently, Rufus champions those that are currently serving harsh sentences based on unfair laws and or by over-reach of prosecutors. Since being released to home confinement Rufus reaches out to the community to remind all of us about the "brothers" and "sisters" that are still incarcerated/left behind. We all witness this when we watch his daily Facebook Live videos. He is a passionate crusader and we'd like to see him move to do more great things.  Please help in any way that you can.
