Hello ladies and gentleman!! We are Ea Villinnich, Choeng Sivhour, and Sovan Vorchiybany from Cambodia currently pursuing an English Language Based Bachelor of Law at Royal University of Law and Economics (“RULE”). We are honored to represent RULE in the Jean-Pictet Competition 45th Edition, to be held physically in Antalya, Republic of Türkiye (“Turkey”) from 8th February 2025 to 15th February 2025.
The Jean-Pictet Competition aim for students to showcase their potential and unleash their capability by engaging in role play scenarios, acting as a certain actor of International Humanitarian Law (“IHL"), and encouraging advocacy and analytical thinking skills on certain branches of international law, such as IHL, Public International Law, and International Human Rights Law.
Even with excitement, it comes with a cost. We are faced with the financial struggle that could hinder our ability to delve in this journey. Just the registration fee alone, which includes accommodation during the competition, requires €1250 ($1315/14,375.81 SEK). Additionally, we need to cover round-trip flights for 3 people for us to travel from Cambodia to Türkiye. The Flight ticket for one person has the approximate cost of $846 and for 3 people it is estimated to be around $2538. Under our circumstances, we were able to allocate $300 from our friends and family contributing to our journey. Thus, we are still short of $3553 (38,771.97 SEK).
Here’s how your contribution will make a difference:
● $1015 (11,017 SEK ) from this fundraising will be used to pay our competition fee.
● $2,538 (27,548 SEK) will be raised to cover the Flight tickets for our members to fly out to Turkey.
This competition is an opportunity for us! We were selected as the school representative after three rounds of tryouts and within the quality assessment of our application globally gets us this spot in the competition. As law students, our shared goal is to foster our legal and advocacy skills to make a positive impact in our communities.
Your help will enable us to achieve our goal, and invest in a future generation with delightful dedication and enthusiasm. Join us on this journey of hope and inspiration. Small donation, big impact! Any kind of support is greatly appreciated and are all significant contribution to our team. <3
P.S. The GoFundMe platform does not support donations directly into Cambodia; hence, the current crowdfunding is being managed in Sweden by our seniors.
Thank you for your support.
