Run 4 Daithí
Donation protected
Hi friends, family and good people of the world. This is a little fundraiser that is dear to our hearts and we wanted to put our bodies to the test to help this wee fighter have the start in life he deserves.
Dáithí spent the first 14 months of his life in hospital. He was originally in Templestreet and after 5 months was transferred to Crumlin Children's hospital. From day one Dáithí had very complex medical needs. Four days before Christmas last year, Dáithí was diagnosed with Wiedemann Steiner syndrome. Only three weeks ago Dáithí was able to come home with the help of the Jack and Jill foundation & Home care package from the HSE for the first time. Dáithí has a PeJ so he's fed directly into his small intestine and is hooked up to a feeding machine 24 hours a day. His stomach isn't able to empty correctly, at night he has to wear a gastric drainage bag. Dáithí has a urostomy, his right kidney doesn't work & his left is in failure. Dáithí is constantly nauseous, he gets dehydrated dangerously quickly. So when Dáithí is having a bad day he's unable to progress developmentally, this with his low muscle tone & developmental delay makes things challenging for him. Dáithí also uses a CPAP mask for his breathing. Our dream is that one day Dáithí will walk. We will do anything to make that happen.
One day when he is more medically stable we want to take him to Texas to Kinactive kids Kamp. Until then we'll go to physio privately at home so he can get the care he received so well in hospital.
Daithí has had a start in life like no other. His resilience and that of his parents shows that true strength isn't on the outside its buried deep within. These guys are strong. I'm asking for donations to help fund this dream trip for Daithí and in return...
We are running an extreme marathon and half marathon on the 11th of November in Tollymore woods Co Down.
Please donate as much or as little as you can. Support Run 4 Daithí.
Thank you one and all.
