Daryush Runs for a Cause: Doctors Without Borders

Tax deductible
On February 16, 2025 I’ll be running the Austin marathon —not just for the challenge, but to make a difference. I’m raising funds for Doctors Without Borders, a global organization that delivers lifesaving medical care to people affected by conflict, natural disasters, and other crises.

This cause holds a special place in my heart. A few years after the Iran-Iraq war ended, my parents worked as doctors in a small border-town hospital. One day, a shepherd limped in, his foot torn open. To my young eyes, it didn’t look like a foot at all. My father explained that the shepherd had stepped on a land mine miles away and somehow walked here with his flock. Outside, his sheep waited, scattered along the blood trail he’d left in the courtyard. My father stitched him up as best as he could. This marathon is my way of continuing that humanitarian support.

Doctors Without Borders is on the front lines, providing care to the world’s most vulnerable populations, often under unimaginable conditions. Every donation, no matter the size, helps:
• Treat malnutrition in children.
• Perform surgeries in conflict zones.
• Offer essential vaccinations in remote areas.

My Goal:
I’m aiming to raise $7500 to support this incredible work. While I don’t have a huge social network, I believe in the power of community and shared purpose.

How You Can Help:
1. Donate what you can—every dollar makes a difference.
2. Share this campaign with friends, family, and colleagues.

Thank you for your support, whether it’s through a contribution, a share, or cheering me on as I train for this marathon. Together, we can help bring hope and healing to those who need it most.
