Run for a Cause: Support Sandy Hook Promise Foundation

This year I am raising money as a part of running in the Hartford Marathon Charity 5K. My goal is to use my community at work and in my personal life to generate a $2,500 donation to the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation. This incredible foundation has programs to educate teachers and students to recognize the warning signs of gun violence in schools and also champions policy to prevent violence against children.

I remember the Sandy Hook shooting as a high school student and still hold onto that fear and anxiety for my loved ones working in or attending schools. Teachers should not have to fear the day they have to become the last line of defense for their students. Children should never have the fear of violence taking away from the joys and growth they will experience from school. As my wife and I just had our first child, school violence is a sad topic that we talk about far too often as we envision his future. Please help me support this wonderful foundation.
