Run for Kalipay - new life for disadvantaged kids
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Julie Uychiat. Discovering marathon running at age 44 has been one of my life's greatest blessings. Running has allowed me the opportunity to discover the deepest parts of me and has inspired my renewed self-love, my grateful attitude and my purpose. Two years ago, I have learned about the World Marathon Challenge which consists of running 7 marathons on all 7 continents in 7 days which I thought would be my ultimate race in this lifetime. I felt the need to connect to a higher purpose to make this journey something greater than myself. I know that I will need an inspiration to push me through difficult training months and be successful at conquering such a feat. This has moved me to partner with Kalipay, a non-profit foundation that is near and dear to my heart. They work for the causes of disadvantaged children in Negros Occidental, Philippines, where I was born and raised. My coworkers and I have had the privilege to visit Kalipay few years ago where we witnessed firsthand the work that they do for these children. There was not a dry eye in the room when we first met the children. One can see their longing for hugs, love and affirmation.
Kalipay Negrense Foundation Inc., is a non-profit foundation working for the causes of disadvantaged children – the homeless, abandoned, neglected, malnourished, physically and sexually abused, victims of child labor and trafficking, foundlings. Kalipay hopes to break the cycle of hopelessness in the children’s lives by introducing them to education, providing shelter, health care and counseling. The image of homeless, hopeless people who work and live on the streets is a familiar sight. Forced on the street by spirit – destroying poverty and family dysfunction – the ones who suffer the most are the children.
No matter the size, your gift will change the lives of these children. A $17 donation supports a child's basic needs for a month and a $200 donation will cover a child's basic needs for a year. A generous donor will match your gift up to $50K.
ALL proceeds will go to Kalipay Foundation.
Thank you in advance for showing kindness, care, and love just by being here.
