One month ago, horrific wildfires destroyed Lahaina as well as large parts of Kula and Olinda in Maui, Hawaii. Many lives were lost, and so many homes, businesses and livelihoods were destroyed by this catastrophic and devastating event. The road to recovery for this beautiful island will be long and incredibly hard. Right now, every single contribution to recovery efforts helps.
On Sunday 1 October, a group of us here in Maui, as well as friends and family on the mainland and in Europe, will be running 10K to raise sponsorship money for The Maui Strong Fund organized by Hawaii Community Foundation. Run with us either here on Maui, or wherever you are in the world! To donate, please use this link. Thank you!
The Maui Strong Fund is providing financial resources that can be deployed quickly, with a focus on rapid response and recovery for the devastating wildfires on Maui. HCF is working in close collaboration with state and county leaders, nonprofit organizations, and community members to get an understanding of the quickly evolving priorities. Funding will support evolving needs, including shelter, food, financial assistance, and other services as identified by our partners doing critical work on Maui.
More information about Hawaii Community Foundation: Because philanthropy is many things—a boost for individuals in time of need, a catalyst for change, a spark for social innovation, and a lever for reform—the Hawai‘i Community Foundation is many things. Among them, HCF is a resource, a partner, a funder, an advocate. At the heart of everything we do at HCF is a commitment to deliver meaningful impact that will benefit Hawai‘i.
We appreciate your support! No donation is too small! Thank you!
