Help deliver medical aid to Ukraine
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
I’m Anthony and thanks for clicking through to my story. Please take another minute to watch my video or read below about what I’m doing and why I’m doing it.
June this year will mark a decade since me and a couple of mates took a beat up old campervan across Europe to watch England play football in the 2012 European Championships in Ukraine.
As our campervan kept breaking down, we ended up in a city called Dnipro where I met Anna, a local journalist, who was on a night out with one of her friends.
We hit it off and, after 20 or so visits back to Dnipro and Anna over the next 15 months, we were married a few days before England played Ukraine in a qualifier for the 2014 World Cup.
Fast forward to today and Dnipro, Kyiv, Kharkiv and a host of other Ukrainian cities are reduced to war zones.
At the borders of Ukraine people queue with what’s left of their possessions and Europe has come together to help this refugee crisis as people are forced to flee their homes.
Not everyone is fleeing though and medical supplies for those people, like my brother-in-law and his family still in Dnipro, are running low.
That’s why I am starting this fundraiser to get these much needed medical supplies into the civilian population still inside Ukraine.
With your help and donations, my friend and I will be driving a van to Poland every three weeks to meet Anna’s friend who lives there and who can take the medical supplies across to Lviv in western Ukraine where they will then go on to where they are most needed.
On the weekends that I’m not travelling to Poland I’ll be running 10k events and eventually ½ and full marathons until I have completed the equivalent distance from my club’s stadium (Amex Stadium, Brighton) to Anna’s club’s stadium (Dnipro Arena), a total of 1596 miles!!!
You can follow my journey on Instagram @Run2Ukraine and hopefully I’ll see some of you at the events along the way!
Any donations are gratefully accepted. Thank you from all my family here and in Ukraine!
