Hello everyone,
As many of you will know my dad, David Smith sadly took his own life  on the 7th September 2011, after a long battle with depression. David was an amazing person who was liked by everyone, he was charming, charismatic and extremely funny. He was my rock.

Unfortunately we will never get him back however, I would do anything so this doesn't happen to another family. Mental health is a huge issue in todays society and I believe more help needs to be given to men and women of all ages.  As it stands, only 1 in 8 adults with a mental health problem are currently getting any kind of treatment.  This deeply upsets me as I know the true impact of not getting the appropriate support.

So where am I going with this.... on September 7th 2021 I will be running (I hope) a marathon in aid of my amazing dad. This is something completely out of my comfort zone, but I really want to raise money for a cause which means the world to me. I have recently got into running to support my own mental wellbeing and it's something I really enjoy. I will be posting regular updates on my instagram 'Run4David', it would be gratefully appreciated if you could give it a follow.

The run will start at St Mary's Church in Kingskerswell. This is a special place to me as this is where dad is. The route will be all around Torbay, through Meadfoot and over to Churston then back to Kingskerswell. The 26 mile route is going to be a huge challenge for me, and definitely something I would have never done before.
To keep me going throughout this run, I have a few volunteers who will run a select distance with me. These lovely people are my friends and family who also knew how special my dad was. Each person will get to choose which length they would like to run, so I won't be alone.
To keep everyone updated throughout the run we have decided to do a live stream at each hour, hosted by the amazing Colin Leslie, who has been a great part in my family's life. Each hour we will be doing a checkup of my run, followed by some other fun things we have planned. This will be a great opportunity to donate on the day as well as thought the 9 months.

I want to make a difference and also make my dad proud. I know he will be following me every step of the way (and probably thinking 'what the hell are you doing charlotte' as I use to hate any form of walking/running as a child lol).

I've got 9 months to make a difference, so please donate anything you can, let's smash this and raise some money!

Char xx
