I have been fortunate to be involved with Project HOME now for several years and am currently serving as Co-Chair of the organization's Rising Leader's Committee.
Project HOME was founded in Philadelphia in 1989 and now is one of the leading non-profits directly benefitting an urban homeless population in the entire country. In 2020...1,120 people were housed and 1,016 people participated in formal adult learning and workforce training directly via Project HOME. Additionally, there were 26,021 visits for medical care and over 75,000 visits to the organization's Hub of Hope facility where individuals come for warmth, coffee, showers, and laundry facilities. Additionally, Project HOME continues to guide the youth via after-school programs and formal college preparation at the Honickman Learning Center Comcast Technology Lab Center.
The mission of the Project HOME community is to empower adults, children, and families to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty, to alleviate the underlying causes of poverty, and to enable all of us to attain our fullest potential as individuals and as members of the broader society.
