Running 13.1 miles for Mitcham Community Orchard!
OK, full disclaimer, I may not run the whole way...but I'm going to give it a good old go! Those of you who know me will understand that I am not a runner, and when I signed up to this run I honestly didn’t realise how far it was...but training has begun and I'm hoping to surprise myself. I'll be running the Hastings Half Marathon on Sunday 26th March, raising money for two community-based charities that I am involved with (Mitcham Community Orchard, and Abortion Talk).
This Gofundme is raising money for Mitcham Community Orchard. The orchard is part of Sustainable Merton, a local environmental charity. Small and lesser-known charities always have to work on a shoestring, so donations, however small, make a huge difference.
Mitcham Community Orchard is a community growing space working on permaculture principles – earth care, people care, and fair share. I’m lucky enough to be one of the tree stewards looking after the trees there. This is a really special place that has made me feel connected to my community, and to nature, in a way I didn’t think was possible in London. We are working to make the orchard more welcoming and accessible, and part of this will include installing a new composting loo!
Can you help us reach our dream of having a sustainable toilet on-site? Every donation will be a huge help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause which means so much to me. If reproductive health and abortion rights charities are more your thing, check out my Gofundme page for Abortion Talk (https://gofund.me/7b3c4b43).
