Running 1st LGBTQ Youth Space and Resource Center

Donation protected
Up until now, the diverse City of Everett has lacked LGBTQ+ related resources. In a city with prominent Black, Latinx, immigrant, and/or low-income populations, having access to resources is critical. The Everett LGBTQ+ Youth Space and Resource Center (ELYSARC) is the first LGBTQ+ specific resource for the city and one of the only physical spaces in the Greater Boston area. LGBTQ+ youth, especially those who are BIPOC, undocumented, and low-income (a significant amount of Everett’s residents), are at heightened risk of homelessness, mental health issues/suicide, incarceration, as well as sexual and physical violence (at home, at school, and in public).

Having a safe space to simply exist has proven to be crucial to the livelihood of LGBTQ+ youth and ELYSARC plans to serve as a protective factor against the various harms and violence LGBTQ+ youth are subjected to. Beyond providing a space and services that focus on the health and safety of the youth, we aim to also enhance the quality of life for these youth by consistently providing opportunities for carefree fun, access to similarly identified adults, and a wide array of services and support to set them up for future success. Though the space is catered to youth, adults are welcome to access the space during the designated hours listed on our website.

Although our program is affiliated with the City of Everett, we are not employed or funded by them, and thus, we rely solely on grants and fundraising to maintain operations. We are asking for any kind of donation you are able to give to ensure that our LGBTQ+ youth are given the full extent of safety, supportive services, opportunities, and pure joy that they have long deserved.

We greatly appreciate your support for the continued growth and safety of the LGBTQ+ community in the City of Everett. <3

*Approximately 40% of all homeless youth are a part of the LGBTQ+ community so it is very important to us to address that in our programming. With that in mind we are also accepting donations of clothing, hygiene and menstrual products, books, school supplies, etc. which can be donated now or in the future.
