Running 500km in 12hrs for The Monkey Tree Charity
The girls of Woodyer House are challenging themselves and their peers to run 500km in 12hrs on Sunday 4th May to raise money for The Monkey Tree Charity. This is a local charity that is aiming to raise funds to set up a cafe for patients and families at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. We are super excited for this challenge and welcome any donations to support this fantastic initiative. Please see more information below from the charity themselves which explains their aims.
From the charity:
Our aim is to continually raise money for The Monkey Tree Charity & raise enough money to set up The Monkey Tree Cafe. We will provide Children with terminal/life limiting diseases and their immediate family, who are staying at the Bristol Royal Infirmary and The Bristol Children's Hospital with free meal vouchers so they can come and eat for free at our community cafe whilst staying at the hospital with their loved one. The charity will also provide age appropriate wheelchairs for the children within these hospitals as and when they need them to help them maintain their independence, along with other resources they may require.
Our aim is to obtain a property within a few minutes walk to the BRI to set up The Monkey Tree Community Cafe, it will provide a warm cosy environment to eat/drink/talk in a space that is welcoming and private, with spaced out seating where people can talk freely without being overheard by others.
Our future aim is to continue fundraising to keep the charity up and running and to eventually provide other resources including some family accommodation; a 'home from home' for those families with children staying in the hospital.
