Running Across America for Rhinos
Tax deductible
Update: Thank you to everyone who's contributed!! On May 27th, I finished in Central Park after 88 days of running. It was an incredible journey, and it wouldn't have been possible without your support :)
Hey!
So, in 2020, I had this crazy idea: run coast to coast across the USA. As someone with a self-proclaimed ability to take on hard physical sh*t, this was the biggest challenge I could dream up. Growing up, I've always had the desire to protect trees and animals, and I'm glad I can make a change.
Black rhinos are critically endangered in Africa, with only about 6000 left in the wild. They're gentle giants, yet poachers target them for their horns which they sell on the black market. Seeing gruesome images of poached rhinos didn't sit well with me, and I knew I should do something about it.
I'm partnering with VETPAW, which operates in South Africa and employs veterans who train rangers about conservation and tactics for staying ahead of poachers. There is huge black market demand for ivory and horns, some of which are ultimately sold to finance terrorist operations in the middle east. In addition to fighting for rhinos, elephants, and other endangered species from extinction, VETPAW also gives back to local communities.
Now a little about me: I've been running since August 2020 and have completed a 100-mile run down the Florida Keys, multiple 50-mile races, and set the solo distance record around NYC's Central Park. This past December, I ran 230 miles from NYC to Boston in 6 days. Before running, I was involved in sports for eight years.
On March 1th, 2023, I'll set off from the west coast and run 30-40 miles a day back home to NYC, where I'll finish at the end of May Any donation, small or large is welcome - thank you for helping this 22-year-old achieve a dream!!
