Running for a Cause: Fundraising with Every Step

Hello, last year marked the beginning of my journey into ultra-marathons with a 36-mile race. Since then, I've conquered a 64-mile ultra and a coastal marathon, all along the breathtaking Cornish coast path!
My return to running coincided with the challenges of raising three children during the COVID lock down. Those initial 3 km runs were my moments of solace, allowing me to catch my breath amidst the chaos.
In an effort to continually challenge myself, I entered a few smaller races. Now, on January 26th, 2024, I'm gearing up for my most ambitious endeavor yet – the Arc of Attrition. This grueling 100-mile endurance race along the Cornish coast path must be completed in under 36 hours and boasts over 4000 meters of elevation.
The ability to train for such a feat is a privilege, one I wouldn't have without the unwavering support of my family – Pete, Freddie, Harriet, and Rory. The funds I aim to raise will be directed towards charities that have facilitated incredible experiences for our children and will continue to do so for other families in the future.
The motivation to embark on this challenge is not solely personal; it's about giving back. I know there will be moments of darkness during the race (about 14 hours LOL), and the knowledge that others are cheering me on from afar will undoubtedly propel me towards the finish line (or so I hope)!
The charities and groups I've chosen to support are:
- 1st South Zeal Scouts
- South Tawton Primary School PTA
- Okehampton Hockey Club
- Okehampton Rugby Club
In these challenging times, any contribution you can make will be immensely valuable. Your support will not only aid me in completing this demanding race but will also play a crucial role in sustaining these vital clubs and ensuring that the children of the Okehampton area continue to enjoy opportunities and experiences.
Thank you all for your support!
