Dementia.
A word that everyone may come across but a word deeply felt by families worldwide, including ours. Our grandmother Alice (seen in the profile picture), was diagnosed with dementia in 2018. Thanks to the Alzheimer's society and the local organisations for alzehiemer's and dementia society, their research and my grandmothers strong will, she has fought this disease like a warrior and thankfully prolonged the harsh downfall for a good two years.
Although things may be getting harder now, she is still the strong, powerful woman fighting dementia with a bright smile surrounded by her loved ones day after day.
We will be running 26.2 miles in one month during our daily exercise to raise money for our local Alzheimer's and Dementia society and for the local elderly care homes. We understand that at this time those in the elderly care homes dealing with this illness along with others, are unable to see their families due to the Covid-19 situation. Therefore our collected donations will go towards providing the elderly care homes with hampers, games and essential items for this tough period. We will run and we will raise for our grandmother and for every other family and persons affected by this illness in the present or future.
Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer and by 2021, one million people will be living with it. Until the day we find a cure, Alzheimer’s and Dementia Society as well as the carers, nurses and doctors placed in the elderly care homes are here for everyone affected. Wherever they are, whatever they’re going through.
We would really appreciate your donations and they will keep us going with even more motivation to raise as much as possible for this great cause! So please hit the ‘Donate now’ button and donate what you can to help our elderly and help beat dementia. Thank you!
